Chaos erupted in a quiet Yucca Valley neighborhood when a routine disturbance call turned into a substantial weapons bust on Tuesday morning. San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies arrested two residents, Latisha Richardson, and Kweisi Thomas, after threats escalated into fears of violent action.

According to officials, deputies arrived at approximately 8:20 a.m. at the 7200 block of Palo Alto Avenue responding to reports of a verbal clash. Richardson was accused of pulling a gun and threatening to shoot another adult female. Thomas was later linked to the altercation. In a search to recover the weapon initially brandished by Richardson, authorities executed a search warrant on the couple's home. Per the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, they uncovered a cache of 12 weapons, including unauthorized "ghost guns" and three assault weapons.

Our community's sense of safety was shaken as officials revealed the additional discovery of explosive materials. Investigators found both tools to manufacture firearms and a troubling amount of binary explosives on the premises. The handgun used in the initial threat was identified among the confiscated items, tying Richardson directly to the criminal threats charge.

Raising questions about the reach of homemade weaponry, Thomas was taken into custody for his part in potentially assembling and holding onto these dangerous assets. He and Richardson face serious allegations from assault with a deadly weapon to possession of destructive devices.
